Life rarely follows the script we write for it, and our story is no exception. While we both attended the same high school, we were pretty much strangers who simply knew of one another. It wasn’t until our final year at Cal Poly Pomona that our paths truly crossed in, of all places, a public speaking class.

John, true to character, spent most of the semester in the back of the room with his head down, while Lexi sat in the front row taking all the notes. Ironically, Lexi was the only real reason John kept showing up to class, though their interactions was limited to small talk while Lexi focused on her studies.

But the dam finally broke when we matched on a dating app. On our first date, Lexi remembers thinking how much of a gentleman John was because he opened the car door for her all night. She later found out that was only because his car door was broken.

After deciding where we would go for our first date we learned the place was just about to close and we weren’t going to be those kind of people. We ended up at world famous Yard House instead. Between the happy hour drinks and hours of easy conversation, we both realized this was something different.

Fast forward seven years, two cross-country moves, one fur baby, and countless camping trips later, our love has only grown stronger. We are so incredibly excited to continue building our life together and can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you.
